Ballet Tips- fondues
Hi... I know it's been quite a while since my last blog post. Work and dance have been keeping me extra busy. I'll do my best to post regularly again but that probably won't happen before the summer break.
Now, I've asked my friends on Instagram what my next post should be about. Most votes were for info on fondus so guess what! This post will be all about fondus. The ballet step- not the dessert haha!
Fondu means "to melt". One very important thing to think about when doing a fondu is making sure your body moves at the same time. The supporting leg and working leg should move simultaneously. The fondu movement consists of bending the supporting leg into plié, while the working leg goes into coupe position, where the foot is pointed and rests just above the ankle. Afterwards, you straighten both legs, still at the same time. The supporting leg should be straight and turned out while the working extends to the front, or to the side or to the back. Keep the movement nice and slow- cheese didn’t melt quickly right? So you can think you're cheese that is slowly melting- making analogies like this truly helps!- and at the same time, keep your body nice and controled as well.
That is all I got to share about fondu for now, I’m keeping this post short and sweet. Hope it helps. Take care all and goodnight!
Regards,
Cara
